teachers are intelligent, dedicated professionals, who take their vocation seriously and honour the moral purpose of their work. They are role models for students and are valued by both school and community.
At Hunza public School, teachers are more accessible, congenial and interactive than the norm. This is because school philosophy maintains that the more distance between students and teachers, the less effective teachers will be; and consequently, quality of education will be compromised. Hence, our teachers are available not only in the classrooms but outside the classrooms as well. If students have a problem, teachers are there to facilitate them in finding a solution.
All our teachers make a particularly strong and sustained effort to ensure that they are as close to students as possible without encroaching on their personal space. This sustained effort has
enabled us to understand our students better and meet their academic and other requirements fully and effectively.
Teacher Recruitment
The Hunza Public School with support from the Ever Shine Organisation, is strongly committed to promoting and enhancing quality education. Better-trained and skilled teachers provide a more varied, interesting and enriched learning experience for the young people.
Teachers are carefully recruited through a rigorous selection process. Candidates present a demonstration lesson to assess their teaching skills and interviewed by the School Administration. The teacher selection criteria include: competence and experience in the subject area, understanding of modern teaching methods and commitment to student-centered learning, motivation towards the teaching learning process and openness to change.
Ongoing Faculty Development
The School considers its dedicated and qualified faculty, which is a combination of experience and young talent, one of its greatest assets. Our teachers keep abreast of latest pedagogical research, incorporating unique and diverse teaching techniques to the classroom. Faculty regularly discusses and share books, materials and teaching techniques promoting a learning culture amongst teachers. The Faculty Development Programme organises interdisciplinary workshops and discussions to explore integrated approach to curriculum development.
The HERP, Pakistan regularly organises workshops and seminars for management and teaching staff. Topics include teaching methodology, classroom management and use of information technology in teaching.
Through the partnerships with the  Ever Shine Organisation of Educational Development, International Academic Partnership, Phillips Academy, Andover, workshops and training programmes are organised for various disciplines. Our faculty also participates in training programmes conducted by Intel, I*EARN, Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers, the British Council, Karakoram University and other such renowned organizations.
Teacher Performance Reviews
The School follows an intensive appraisal system to monitor faculty and staff progress. Faculty and non-teaching staff appraisal takes place periodically through the year and a formal appraisal takes place at year-end. Assessment is based on the following criteria:
  • Achievements after the appointment
  • Professional development and growth
  • Quality of teaching
  • Quality of pupils' learning
  • Quality of relationship with peers
  • Professional responsibility.
